Half Windsor Knot:

Half Windsor knot is one of the most popular neck tie knots. It is a little bit smaller than the full Windsor knot and a half Windsor tie knot is easier than the full Windsor knot. It is more formal than the four-in-hand knot. You can tie a half Windsor tie knot with your spread collar shirt. If you have a rounded, large face half windsor tie knot will look better on you.

How to tie a half Windsor knot?

Follow these instructions for tying a half Windsor knot:

Step 1: Put your shirt’s collar up and leave the top button of your shirt undone. Place theĀ  neck tie around your neck with the seam facing inwards and the wide end of the tie to the side of your dominating hand.

Step 2: Pull the wide end of the neck tie at least 12 inches past the narrow end. You might need to experiment with this a little bit to get the right length.

Step 3: Place the wide end of the neck tie over the narrow end. Pass the wide end of the tie up and throuh the loop around your neck.

Step 4: Pass the wide end over to the side of your dominating hand, behind the knot and back over to the side of your non dominating hand.

Step 5: Pass the wide end back over the side of dominating hand behind the knot and up through the loop again.

Step 6: Pull the wide end up and through the loop and bring it down through the loop in front.

Step 7: Thighten your neck tie up by pulling the narrow end from behind, but not all the way. First you have to buton up the top buton of your shirt Then you can thigthen the knot all the way up using both of your hands.

Put your collar down and there you have your half windsor tie knot.
